McCORD SQUARE CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING
The Town of McCordsville, along with Rebar Development and Pride Investment Partners, celebrated the grand opening of the new downtown district, McCord Square, and the anchor development, McCord Square Apartments with a ribbon cutting ceremony held on October 3, 2024. The celebration marked a significant milestone in McCordsville’s long-term plan to establish a vibrant downtown district.
First announced in August of 2021, McCord Square achieves key objectives from the Town Center Development plan, including the creation of a dynamic and recognizable downtown district and increasing the tax base by adding an estimated $50 million in assessed value by 2025. Since breaking ground on the anchor development, McCord Square Apartments, in 2022, the Town of McCordsville and project partners have announced several additional business tenants in the district, including NineStar, IU Health, Le Peep, Rita’s Italian Ice and Creamery, and Hancock Eye Associates. A new headquarters for the McCordsville Police Department is also currently under construction.
The Grand Opening Celebration was the first of many community events to take place in the new downtown development with visitors and McCordsville residents enjoying the public infrastructure improvements and new community greenspace. The Central Green, located in the heart of the district, will host future community events, concerts, and next year’s McCordsville Farmers Market.
Also celebrating its grand opening, McCord Square Apartments, a luxury residential community featuring 206 modern apartment homes, officially opened its doors. Attendees toured the community, which offers studio, one-, and two-bedroom modern apartment homes, complete with premium finishes and top-tier amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness center, outdoor pool and courtyard, pet spa, work-from-home lounge, rooftop lounge, indoor bike storage, and more.
Plans for future developments align closely with the Town Center Development Plan including the creation of additional gathering spaces and a new McCordsville Town Hall. Also, McCord Square will eventually add townhomes, three-bedroom and two-bathroom bungalow cottages, additional retail/office/restaurant space, and a daycare.
As McCordsville continues to expand, Rebar Development remains committed to furthering the vision for the town’s downtown district. Future development opportunities within the McCord Square project are still available, including retail and commercial spaces.
